Gary Clark Jr.’s New Video “This Land”

by Queens Artists on January 12, 2019

Gary Clark Jr.’s new video for the song This Land, from his 3rd album due out March 1st, with the same name dropped on 1/10/19 at 12 noon EDT. The song unapologetically cuts to the heart of the issue of racism in America. The visual and audio juxtaposition of the bonfire crackling and the sound of a gun being cocked is powerful and that is within the first 30 seconds of the video.

At 1:58 into the video the most powerful line in the lyric comes our way.
Fuck You
I’m America’s Son
This is where I come from

That lyric, right there. It says it all. Followed by “This Land is Mine”. This song is definitely taking a shot at Trump’s race politics, one might even consider it a protest song.
